This fish has unique features and colors to distinguish it from most other fish. On the lateral body, it has green/turquoise spots in front of and behind it's eye; then, along the rest of the lateral aspect of the body, it has an alternating color pattern of darkish rust vertical color lines alternating with lighter areas giving the appearance of resembling stripes. The ventral fins also have a similar rust color, as do the anterior dorsal fins whereas the posterior dorsal fins are of a darker color but with a light/whitish line going through it lengthwise (front to back).
