The Congo Tetra is a beautiful, unique tetra that is prized by many aquarists. It has been line bred in captivity to have an albino variant, as well as a variant with even longer fins. The body is silver and highly iridescent, and may show hues of yellow, green and blue. The fins are long and flowing.
A peaceful schooling fish, they will do best in a group of at least 6. They should only be kept with other peaceful community fish and have plenty of hiding places, or they may become stressed.
They will accept a wide variety of meaty preparations and vegetable matter in the form of micro pellets, live, frozen, and high quality flake foods. For their best health, they should be fed primarily carnivore foods.
