Overview
Relatively new to the hobby, White Top Hara's have also been called Blue Reef, Gallireya or Zebra Hara. They have gained popularity due to the fact that unlike many other species of cichlids, the females are also a beautiful blue color. Both sexes range from white to powder blue depending on mood and whether or not they are breeding, and also have thick stripes that range in intensity as well. Males will generally still be brighter and have more pronounced striping, and are also larger.
The tank should have plenty of rockwork for them to establish their territories. They can cohabitate with many other cichlid species. If kept in a group, the male should have his own harem of females to disperse breeding aggression and amorous behavior. They are not difficult to spawn and mouthbrood for around 3 weeks until the fry are released.
