Overview
The Lawnmower Blenny, also sometimes called the Sailfin Blenny or Rock Skipper, is truly a unique and beautiful blenny. Their coloring can vary a lot from individual to individual. It has a light tan body with a darker brown mottled pattern that may also include some striping. It is also dotted with small, bright blue speckling in some areas. It possesses an impressively large dorsal fin and endearingly big eyes.
It requires plenty of live rock in a well established tank that has a generous supply of algae for it to feed on. It will also appreciate a sandy substrate. While it is generally peaceful towards other fish, it will be aggressive towards other blennies unless it is in a mated pair. While it can sometimes be reef safe, it has been known to nip at small polyped stony corals and clam mantles. It's algae diet can be supplemented with herbivorous preparations.
