Overview

The Bicolor Foxface gets its name from its mostly two-colored body. The front half is dark brown, while the rear third of the body is bright yellow. The pectoral fins are also yellow, and it has a grey or white crescent marking that runs along the bottom portion of its face.

It is an extremely docile species except towards other rabbitfish unless they are a mated pair. It can be housed with more aggressive fish because they will leave it alone due to its venomous dorsal spines.* If they are well fed then they are generally reef safe, if not then they may nip at some LPS and soft corals. It will thrive on a diet of fresh vegetables and algae. They are hardy and easy to care for.

* = While their venomous spines are only used in self defense, they can cause extremely painful stings so caution should be exercised. Never pick them up by hand and be aware of them while cleaning the tank so that you do not accidentally bump into their spines. If you are stung, a visit to the doctor is recommended.
