Overview
Ember Tetras are simplistic yet beautiful in coloration. They are a bright reddish orange throughout their bodies and fins. Mature males will be slightly more vibrant than females, especially during spawning.
They do well in community aquariums whether they are large or nano tanks, and can be housed with a wide variety of tankmates. They will feel most secure in groups of at least 6-8, but even more are optimal. They should also be given plenty of hiding places throughout the tank. They will breed readily in the home aquarium but the fry should be moved to a separate tank so that the adults do not ingest them.
Ember Tetras will accept many different foods and can be fed a diet primarily consisting of high quality micro pellets or flakes. They should also be supplemented with daphnia, bloodworms, tubifex, brine shrimp and other tiny live or frozen prey items.
