Sparkling Gouramis (also known as pygmy gouramis). These delightful freshwater fish are native to Southeast Asia and have some fascinating features:

Appearance:
- Sparkling Gouramis are small, reaching a maximum length of about 1.6 inches (4 cm) when mature.
- Their bodies are long, thin, and streamlined, shimmering with iridescent scales.
- When they swim, they resemble little sparkling bullets, reflecting vibrant colors.

Natural Habitat:
- Sparkling Gouramis thrive in slow-moving or still waters with abundant vegetation.
- You can find them in streams, rivers, ponds, and even rice paddies.

Unique Adaptation:
- These gouramis possess a labyrinth organ, which functions like a lung.
- They periodically swim to the water’s surface to gulp air, allowing them to survive in low-oxygen and sometimes dirty conditions.

Lifespan:
- On average, Sparkling Gouramis live for 4-5 years.
