Taeniacara candidi.
Remarkable fish because of black stripe which runs from behind the eye to the origin of the tail fin. The rest of the body has a very light color making for a striking contrast!
- Appearance: Taeniacara candidi has a slender, elongated body with a unique black stripe running horizontally from its snout to the base of its tail. Its dorsal fin is relatively low compared to other dwarf cichlids.
- Behavior: These cichlids are not recommended for beginner aquarists due to their specific care requirements. Male Black Stripe Dwarf Cichlids can be territorial and aggressive toward their own kind, so it’s best to keep them as a pair or in a harem configuration.
- Tank Setup: Provide soft, acidic water conditions with dark substrate, dense planting, and ample hiding places. Floating plant cover can help diffuse light. A secure tank cover is essential as they are prone to jumping.
- Coloration: Male individuals display various colors on their caudal, anal, and ventral fins, including red, blue, yellow, and brown hues.
