Corydoras venezuelanus.

1. Appearance:

   • Mature Corydoras aeneus “Venezuela” develop an increasingly bright orange coloration along their backs, creating a striking contrast to the metallic blue-green colors along their sides.
   • Males are slightly more intensely colored than females.
   • Sexually mature females grow larger than males and have a broader, rounder body, especially during spawning when they are gravid.

2. Behavior and Care:

   • These catfish are peaceful and gregarious, so it’s best to keep them in groups of at least 4 to 6 individuals.
   • They are facultative air breathers, rising to the surface of the aquarium to gulp in air due to their modified, highly vascularized intestine.
   • Be cautious when handling them, as their stiffened pectoral fin spines can pierce human skin and cause discomfort.
     
3. Diet and feeding:

1. Sinking Dried Foods:

   • Offer high-quality sinking pellets or flakes specifically formulated for bottom-dwelling fish, such as catfish. These can serve as their primary food source.

2. Live and Frozen Foods:

   • Venezuelan Red Sailfin Corys enjoy live, frozen, or freeze-dried options:
     • Bloodworms
     • Tubifex
     • Brine shrimp

3. Variety Matters:

   • To maintain their condition and color, provide a varied diet. Avoid relying solely on leftovers from other aquarium residents.
