Overview
The Spotted Rubberlip Plecostomus is also commonly called the Spotted Bulldog Plecostomus or the Spotted Rubbernose Plecostomus. Unlike most plecos that have a primarily dark body with lighter spots, their body ranges from a cream to a sandy color and is covered in black spots of variable sizing.
They will appreciate a large aquarium with adequate filtration and a moderately flowing current. They should be given driftwood and plenty of rockwork caves to hide in. A peaceful fish, they can live with a wide variety of tankmates. They may be territorial towards their own species.
As omnivores, they will graze off of tank decor for algae but should also be supplemented with algae wafers as well as other vegetable matter. Meaty preparations should also make up some of their diet, in the form of live, frozen, pelleted or high quality flake foods.
