Overview
The Geophagus Caqueta hails from Columbia. It can reach quite a large size, about a foot and a half, so a large tank is recommended as it grows larger.
These Geophagus are benthophagus fish, so they gulp bits of sand to eat food, and leftover materials come out their mouth and gills. A sand substrate is required to mimic this environment.
They are peaceful to fish similar in size, and considered shy. So a group of at least 6 would show them best and keep them comfortable.
Their diet should consist of small food that can fit through their mouth and gills. Small cichlid pellets that sink would be the best option. The primary diet should be mostly vegetable.
