Overview
Dickfeld's Julie is also commonly called the Blue Julie or Brown Julie since their colors can vary and do usually include those hues. The body is silvery or golden brown and sometimes has a blue sheen to it. They have two thick black stripes running along the top of the sides of their bodies.
Julie's require good filtration with decent water movement. They should be kept on a sand or fine gravel substrate. They will appreciate plenty of hiding places and will claim a small territory within the tank and then stay close to it. They can peacefully live with other cichlids aside from other Julie's, towards which they will be territorial and aggressive unless they are a mated pair.
They will eat high quality pellet or flake foods, but should also be supplemented with plenty of meaty live and frozen foods, like cyclops, mysis shrimp, and bloodworms.
