Overview
The Atabapo Butterfly Plecostomus, sometimes simply called the Atabapo Plecostomus, is a striking white or cream coloration with thick black banding throughout the body, giving them a striped appearance. They are quite similar to the regular Butterfly Plecostomus, but tend to have a more defined, visible pattern. Like the Butterfly Plecostomus, their coloration may become dull at night or if they are stressed out.
They will appreciate a large tank with an adequate filter that provides moderate flow, and should have driftwood and rockwork caves to hide in to best imitate their natural environment. They can live with a wide variety of tankmates, but may be territorial towards their own species.
An omnivorous diet will ensure proper nutrition. They should be given vegetable matter, as well as specifically formulated bottom feeder wafers and other wafer, pellet, and high quality flake foods.
