The Cuban Cichlid, Nandopsis tetracanthus , is a light colored cichlid with a dark mottled coloration. It is more aggressive than other aquarium fish and should only be housed with other cichlids of a similar temperament if with other fish at all. Like other cichlids, the Cuban Cichlid will become territorial, especially if breeding in the aquarium. This species does best in slightly hard water with a pH of 7.0 to 8.0. They will fare well on a varied diet if meaty frozen items, staple pellet, and occasional treats like earthworms.
