Overview
Tiger Barbs are a pale to medium golden color with thick black vertical striping not unlike an actual tiger and orange fins.
They will appreciate a tank with plants and driftwood, however, there should still be plenty of open swimming space. Tiger Barbs should be kept in groups of at least 6 since they are a schooling fish. They are known fin nippers and should not be housed with any fish with long, flowing fins such as bettas, gouramis or angelfish. They will do well with faster moving, equally small and peaceful fish with shorter fins. A good tankmate for Tiger Barbs are Clown Loaches--since the two look so similar, they may even school together.
They should be fed a varied diet for optimal health that includes pellets, flakes, live and frozen foods that contain both vegetable matter and meat.
