Overview
The Powder Blue & Whitecheek Tang Hybrid is man made and only found in captivity. They are a medium purple-blue coloration with the markings that are more typical of Powder Blue Tangs, including darker hues in the face. Their finnage is yellow and outlined in the same purple color as their body.
When it comes to tank size, the larger the better for this highly active swimmer. A strong pump should be used in the tank as they need highly oxygenated water and like a lot of water flow. They require live rock to graze algae. While it will be peaceful towards most tankmates, it cannot be housed with other tangs or surgeonfish and will be territorial and aggressive towards them. It should also be watched closely to ensure that it isn't bullying smaller fish.
They should be given seaweed to pick at and fed a plant-based diet that also includes Spirulina. They will accept pellets or high quality flake food, as well as frozen preparations. While their diet should be primarily herbivorous, they will also eat meaty foods meant for their tankmates.
