Overview

The Niger Triggerfish, also commonly called the Red-toothed Triggerfish, has a quite varied coloring depending on what lighting it is under and can range from teal green, blue, purple and even black. Their teeth are bright red.

It requires a rocky tank, and since it is so large, it may rearrange the rocks whenever it sees fit. As a juvenile it will be more shy and prone to hiding, but as it gains size it will become more bold, active and aggressive. They will eat any food offered but should be given a mainly meaty diet. If there are crustaceans and other invertebrates in the tank they may become food for the Niger Triggerfish. They can be housed in a community tank with similarly sized fish, including tangs. In an incredibly large tank other triggerfish are also feasible as they shoal in the wild.
